About Oracle 10g Real Application Cluster

Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC) enables clustering of the database instances from multiple servers, which share the storage and enable high availability, scalability, and manageability of the databases, Oracle 10g R2 RAC on OEL4. Oracle Corporation includes RAC with the Standard Edition of Oracle Database (aka Baby RAC),Oracle RAC allows multiple computers to run Oracle RDBMS software simultaneously.

In an Oracle RAC environment, two or more computers (each with an instance) concurrently access a single database. This allows an application or user to connect to either computer and have access to a single coordinated set of data. Oracle 10g makes it easy for customers to run the cluster databases, as customers do not have to go to multiple vendors to get the things done.

Students learn how to install and administer Oracle Clusterware, Real Application Clusters, and Automatic Storage Management. Students also learn how to administer their Database in a Real Application Clusters environment using Enterprise Manager Grid Control.

Before you continue, you should have a basic understanding of the following:
